YA crazy
So, I've been on a bit of a young adult bender lately (even more so than usual) - to the point of neglecting to read very much in the way of "adult fiction" (no, not the kind with naked stuff). To attempt to maintain an adult-ish persona, I'm also reading Frankenstein, but I got it from the "high school classics" section of the library, so I guess that's not saying much. Dammit. When I was a teenager I read nothing but adult books (yes, quite often the kind with naked stuff. God bless you Judith Krantz), but now I'm fully into the teen stuff and loving it.
The two Warriors series I mentioned in my last post have become a vaguely embarassing obsession. I do not feel very cool reading these on the train. oh well. So far I've read:
Series One:
- Warriors #1: Into the Wild
- Warriors #2: Fire and Ice
- Warriors #3: Forest of Secrets
- Warriors #4: Rising Storm
- Warriors #5: A Dangerous Path
- Warriors #6: The Darkest Hour
Series Two:
- Warriors: The New Prophecy #1: Midnight
I'm in the middle of The New Prophecy #2: Moonrise and #3: Dawn is out -- #4: Starlight is coming out in April. hooray!
I also read Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. It was an incredibly engaging story about a book coming to life when it is read aloud. There are evidently two more books in the series -- must get those soon.
Series are so excellent. I always hate it when a book is over and I don't get to have the characters in my head anymore -- with a series, it can go on FOREVER. (sometimes literally, as is the case with the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time series - seriously. that man needs to wrap.it.up.already. sweet lord.)
Anyway, I'm also reading a lovely Terry Pratchett book: The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents. It's a convoluted Disc World take on the story of the Pied Piper - a grifter cat name Maurice travels around with a gang of talking rats and a stupid-looking kid with a pipe and rips off towns for cash.
And one of the characters is a rat named Dangerous Beans... need I say more?
Completely.Hilarious.
